So there was this dragonfly. . .
One day several months ago, I decided to head over to an off-the-beaten-path coffee shop to do some personal work. You know, listen to an encouraging, yet butt-kicking self-help webinar, do some journaling, and try to figure out what to do with myself in general. I had been in quite a funk for about a year (or so I said, it was really more like 5 years) and had become desperate to find something (anything!) that would help get me out of my fog and into some clarity already!
I was sitting outside because all the tables inside were taken. I was kind of irritated about that since it was about 112 degrees outside (seriously – I live in Phoenix), but was trying to make the most of it anyway. While I sat and listened to the webinar, a lot of the things they were saying really got me fired up about making some changes and DOING SOMETHING with my life. I was beginning to remember who I am deep down inside and realizing that it might be helpful to myself and everyone else to let my true colors show.
At that moment, a dragonfly comes flying right in front of my face a few times and then lands on the antenna of a car parked right beside my sidewalk table. It is on the antenna straight up and down and, I promise, the thing was staring right at me. He obviously didn’t talk out loud, but he might as well have! (Stay with me here!) I could sense him saying to me, “It’s time for you to stand up, like me, and show the beauty of your colors. The whole world is missing out because you keep hiding in the shadows.”
This caused me to TAKE NOTICE! I don’t know if you have ever looked into animal/spirit totems (I have a native american heritage, so I check them out from time to time), but I HAD TO KNOW on this one! Here’s what I found:
“When (the dragonfly) shows up in your life, it’s an indication that it’s time for change. Just like the dragonfly changes colors as it matures, you may be called to live and experience yourself differently. Stay open to the enfoldment of your personal journey.”
I don’t think the message could have been more clear – it’s time to make some changes and live in full color.
Welcome to the unfolding of my personal journey.
